You'll be introduced to Blast Theory's interdisciplinary artistic practice, and as a case study you will exclusively preview 'Belief' by Thomson & Craighead before its world premiere at the 2012 Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Off the coast of Scotland on the 23rd of December 1944 Hellboy was summoned into our world. His big red Right Hand of Doom a key to ending WWII in favour of the Nazis, but this infant demon was taken in by the Allies instead.
Guillermo del Toro directs this 2004 origin story of Mike Mignola's comic book superhero. Kept in nachos by the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, Hellboy now protects us from other wordly beasts and black magic.

From the Philosopher's Stone to the Deathly Hallows this is a once-in-a-lifetime Potterthon to savour, and if you're very lucky they will be a game of live Quidditch on the Meadows at lunchtime. Go on... snuggle with a Muggle.

In this 2004 Marc Foster directed film, Johnny Depp is simply darling as Scottish playwight J.M.Barrie who befriends a family one day in London's Kensington Gardens, lending inspiration to him to create 'Peter Pan'.
As his vision of Neverland emerges, we're swept along by sumptuous production design and an Oscar winning soundtrack. Barrie must now convince his producer that this new play can find an audience who do believe.

Our Atmosphere screening of Sylvain Chomet's 2010 feature film is the first ever expanded cinema experience on board the Screen Machine. We've added a layer of sensory experiences to bring the film to life – from Paris in 1959 to the tastes and smells of a Scottish island.
A love-letter to Scotland which tells the story of a French vaudeville magician who, finding himself out of work, tries his luck in Britain. Finally reaching a remote Scottish island, he meets a young woman who believes that he really can do magic. Devoted to him, she follows him to Edinburgh.

Can machines think? This new film by AL and AL, with post-screening artist Q&A, tells of Britain’s greatest scientist in the development of computer science Alan Turing, and plays with his pioneering idea to make thinking machines.
The film enters Turing's dreams and memories in the last few hours of his life as he contemplates suicide with a poisoned apple, and imagines a future where thinking machines will search for him as their Creator.

Produced by David O. Selznick, this 1948 Oscar winner tells the tale of Eben Adams, a struggling artist desperately seeking inspiration in Manhattan before finding his muse whilst walking one day through Central Park.
Jennifer Jones stars as the eponymous Jennie alongside Joseph Cotton, with Ethel Barrymore playing his agent. Ethereal cinematography and a Debussy inspired score make for an unexpected romance that time cannot contain.

Not one, but two bolts in the neck tonight. First, the first ever... a 1910 silent adaptation of Mary Shelley's horror masterpiece by J. Searle Dawley, which we've married with 1974 comedy reboot from Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder.
Peggy Hughes of the Electric Bookshop will introduce, and composer Yati Durant will premiere his new score to 'Frankenstein'. As for the dress code, put on your top hats and lab coats. At last, I know the secret of it all!

Als das Kind Kind war... we're delighted to launch our Atmosphere programme for the 2012 Edinburgh International Film Festival with this 1987 classic directed by Wim Wenders, and selected by Thomson & Craighead.
In the streets and skies of a divided Berlin, angels can hear the thoughts of mere mortals and seek to comfort them. One angel however falls in love with a circus trapeze artist and wishes to become human, 'forever' visible to all.

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide.
It is curated in Edinburgh by Gordon Duffy, Principal of architecture practice Studio DuB. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds.
