Whilst moving to a new neighborhood, ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino's family think they've stumbled upon an abandoned amusement park, but it turns out to be an alternate reality inhabited by spirits, gods and monsters.
After her parents are transformed into pigs by the witch Yubaba, Chihiro befriends a boy, Haku. She takes a job working in Yubaba's bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents and escape back to the human world.
We're delighted to welcome back guest augmentologist Ericka Duffy of Gorilla Perfume, who along with Paul Tvaroh of Lounge Bohemia and a new addition to the team, Jelly & Gin will arouse your senses tonight.

EIFF 2013 | Video Game Music Concert

The Edinburgh Film Music Orchestra is back at the lab! Edinburgh’s only orchestra entirely devoted to performing film and TV music will be further expanding its repertoire with some suitably cinematic music from video games.
The concert features music from Grammy nominated composer Austin Wintory (Journey), Jessica Curry (Dear Esther), Simon and Andrew Hale (LA Noire), Robert Holmes (Gray Matter) and Jacob Pernell (Deep Blue Sky).

EIFF 2013 | Edinburgh Game Symposium

This symposium examines the phenomenon and music of video games, and will look at developments in current independent video game productions. Game developers will be in attendance, including Yann Seznec of Lucky Frame and Alexander Mathew of USC Interactive Media.
L.A.-based composer Jeff Rona (God of War III) will be interviewed, and there will be a panel of video game composers including Jessica Curry (Dear Esther), Simon Hale (LA Noire) and others. Presented by Edinburgh University with EIFF and New Media Scotland.

To introduce our new strand of research into entertainment & urbanism, Michael Anderson's 1976 film shows the remains of human civilization living a hedonistic lifestyle in a sealed domed city. Set in 2274, this computer-run utopia takes care of all aspects of life, including reproduction.
Citizens understand that in order to maintain the city, they must undergo the fiery ritual of Carousel when they reach Last Day, their 30th birthday, and are given the chance to be reborn. If the Lifeclock crystal in the palm of your hand started to blink, would you try and outrun the Sandmen?

Nagiko loves books. Her desire to read is insatiable. The smell of white paper to her is like "the scent of skin of a new lover who has just paid a surprise visit out of a rainy garden," or in other words... covetable and delicious.
Starring Vivian Wu, this 1996 Peter Greenaway film deploys all his signature visual devices to great effect. His focus being on the beauty of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy, hand painted on the body like pages of a diary.

Bond is back and impersonating a diamond smuggler to infiltrate a smuggling ring. James soon uncovers a plot by his old nemesis Blofeld to use the diamonds to build a giant space laser.
Miss Moneypenny will make sure your Vegas bound tonight with a handful of casino chips and a bombe surprise or two from guest augmentologists Ericka Duffy, Jonathan Prior and Paul Tvaroh.

In this AmbITion webinar, Matt Adams from Blast Theory will introduce you to the core concepts behind interactive storytelling and explore their emerging potential within the creative, cultural and heritage sector.
You'll be introduced to Blast Theory's interdisciplinary artistic practice, and as a case study you will exclusively preview 'Belief' by Thomson & Craighead before its world premiere at the 2012 Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Off the coast of Scotland on the 23rd of December 1944 Hellboy was summoned into our world. His big red Right Hand of Doom a key to ending WWII in favour of the Nazis, but this infant demon was taken in by the Allies instead.
Guillermo del Toro directs this 2004 origin story of Mike Mignola's comic book superhero. Kept in nachos by the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, Hellboy now protects us from other wordly beasts and black magic.

From the Philosopher's Stone to the Deathly Hallows this is a once-in-a-lifetime Potterthon to savour, and if you're very lucky they will be a game of live Quidditch on the Meadows at lunchtime. Go on... snuggle with a Muggle.

In this 2004 Marc Foster directed film, Johnny Depp is simply darling as Scottish playwight J.M.Barrie who befriends a family one day in London's Kensington Gardens, lending inspiration to him to create 'Peter Pan'.
As his vision of Neverland emerges, we're swept along by sumptuous production design and an Oscar winning soundtrack. Barrie must now convince his producer that this new play can find an audience who do believe.
