German scientist Ernst Chladni (1756-1827) was a pioneer of experimental acoustics. One of his inventions was a technique to study the motions of vibrating metal plates. In this exploration of 'Cymatics', the science of visualising audio frequencies, Bright Side Studios will reveal the visual patterns of audio by experimenting with a Chlandi Plate.

Edinburgh Art Festival's Art Late South is a evening of specially programmed late night openings and events, taking in live music, performances and artist talks and tours in galleries south of the Royal Mile.
Art Late South will include a performance from The Little Kicks alongside escorted tours of exhibitions at Edinburgh College of Art, New Media Scotland, Dovecot Studios, Summerhall and Talbot Rice Gallery.

Explore a snap-shot of new media practice and creative engagement with digital culture, as seen through the lens of the Alt-w award. Since it's establishment the fund has supported a formidable alumni of practitioners in their exploration of new ideas and new technologies.
Initially concerned with the emerging medium of the world wide web, these projects now represent the wider evolution of digital culture. From pure research to dynamic production, the range of ideas and depth of enquiry reasserts the vibrancy of experimentation in Scotland.
