48 hours | Perceptual Disconnection
Tuesday 19th November 2013, 5-8pm.
Inspace, 1 Crichton Street, Edinburgh EH8 9AB
This installation by Javier Vidal Aguilera, Jonathan Hemelberg, Sara Ocklind and Claire Holmes is based on a research project about human perception of the landscape as affected by internet connectivity.
The artists spent four days in a cabin in Skiary by Loch Hourn, with no internet connection and no electricity. Here they explored the interaction between translucent man-made forms within the natural landscape.
Using the concept of 'filters' as something that alters our perception of the environment, the installation enables the perception of landscapes from a fragmented perspective using text, photography and glass.
