Global PechaKucha Day - Inspire Japan
Saturday 16th April 2011, 8-9:30pm.
Inspace, 1 Crichton Street, Edinburgh EH8 9AB
The Tōhoku earthquake off the coast of Japan occurred at 2:46pm on 11 March 2011 and registered 9.0 on the Richter magnitude scale.
The epicenter was eighty miles off the coast of the Oshika Peninsula, creating a 10m high tsunami that devastated the coastal region. Global PechaKucha Day is raising funds for Architecture for Humanity and their reconstruction effort.
PechaKucha is curated in Edinburgh by Gordon Duffy, Principal of architecture practice Studio DuB. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds.
