Three video pieces - 'The Emperor Jones' is a video interpretation of the Group’s original stage production of Eugene O’Neill’s play, 'Today, I Must Sincerely Congratulate You' is the Group’s 1991 metadocumentary of daily life in a fading performance troupe and 'Rhyme ’Em to Death' is a short black-and-white film from 1994 inspired by Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Whilst moving to a new neighborhood, ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino's family think they've stumbled upon an abandoned amusement park, but it turns out to be an alternate reality inhabited by spirits, gods and monsters.

After her parents are transformed into pigs by the witch Yubaba, Chihiro befriends a boy, Haku. She takes a job working in Yubaba's bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents and escape back to the human world.

We're delighted to welcome back guest augmentologist Ericka Duffy of Gorilla Perfume, who along with Paul Tvaroh of Lounge Bohemia and a new addition to the team, Jelly & Gin will arouse your senses tonight.

EIFF 2013 | Video Game Music Concert

The Edinburgh Film Music Orchestra is back at the lab! Edinburgh’s only orchestra entirely devoted to performing film and TV music will be further expanding its repertoire with some suitably cinematic music from video games.

The concert features music from Grammy nominated composer Austin Wintory (Journey), Jessica Curry (Dear Esther), Simon and Andrew Hale (LA Noire), Robert Holmes (Gray Matter) and Jacob Pernell (Deep Blue Sky).

EIFF 2013 | Edinburgh Game Symposium

God of War III

This symposium examines the phenomenon and music of video games, and will look at developments in current independent video game productions. Game developers will be in attendance, including Yann Seznec of Lucky Frame and Alexander Mathew of USC Interactive Media.

L.A.-based composer Jeff Rona (God of War III) will be interviewed, and there will be a panel of video game composers including Jessica Curry (Dear Esther), Simon Hale (LA Noire) and others. Presented by Edinburgh University with EIFF and New Media Scotland.

Heroic Real Estate Otter of the 21st Century is the latest collective novel from Brendan Howell's exquisite_code project. The book was written by seven writers at Inspace on the 2nd November 2012. The process delegated by a brutalist-brut software edit machine, known as The Maggot.

The Maggot is a bastard editor. It is a software worm that ruthlessly delegates and mediates the work of a group of writers, simultaneously composing a collective text. This book is the the chewed-up corpse of the corpus that arose, an endless paper record that piled up on the floor.

Scottish synth lovers Homework will launch their much-awaited debut album '13 Towers' at this very special one-off show. Formed in 2009, Homework have gone on to attract the attention of the nation's new music tastemakers, and perform at some of the UK's best festivals.

Their single, EP output and live shows have been consistently praised by radio bloggers, journalists and audiences alike. Homework are: Oliver Kass (vocals, synths), Ross Baird (vocals, guitar, synths), Rich Kass (drums) and Aly Dennis (bass).

It is essential for any fashion designer today to convey their brand in a dynamic, individual and coherent manner. In the Legacy project this conceptual link between research and design is explored to evolve more engaged collections.

For our annual Legacy pop-up shop, ECA 3rd year Fashion students have created three brands, Ludic Led, NAMES and ORA. The brands focused on surface, tailoring and accessories in their research. All designs are for sale.

Spring has finally sprung and Future Shorts is back! With another great selection of award-winning short films from around the world, this season's selection is sure to please!

We will be joined by 3rd year ECA Fashion students who will present a special catwalk show of their new collections appearing in the annual Legacy pop-up shop at the lab.

We will, of course, have the usual on offer: great short films, our resident dj spinning tunes, a diverse Williams Brothers beer donation bar, and popcorn for you Future Shorters!
