Friday 15th December 2017, 7:30 for 8pm. RSVP
Alt-w LAB, City Art Centre, 2 Market Street, Edinburgh
Bruce McLean is one of the most important living Scottish artists. His work in the 60s as a performance and conceptual artist was ground-breaking and very influential. His paintings and ceramics are avidly collected.
McLean has written a book called A LAWNMOWER IN THE LOFT: a hilarious number of anecdotes from his time working with other artists, his student days in London as a Scot, his love of a drink and the consequences of that love.
For his first public appearance in Scotland for many years, McLean will be interviewed by Paul Robertson of Lust & the Apple and there will be a performative aspect to the evening including a reading from McLean’s book. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to meet Bruce and buy a signed copy.
On Saturday 16th December at 8pm an exhibition of new work by McLean will open at Lust & the Apple gallery in Temple, Midlothian. Other artists exhibiting will include David Bellingham and Natalie Doyle.
